The Advanced Diploma curriculum honours the Pilates Method as taught by Joseph Pilates and is strategically informed by modern health and evidence-based movement science, anatomy and physiology to create a comprehensive and balanced learning experience. What you’ll learn is broken down against the following:
Advanced Repertoire.
Learn how to apply Pilates repertoire for late-Intermediate through to Advanced in Matwork, Reformer and Studio (private, duet and semi-private) settings using the full complement of Pilates apparatus.
- Pre-Pilates Repertoire.
- Advanced Reformer Repertoire and Programming: The Pilates International Categorisation™ (PIC) System (Studio/Reformer).
- Advanced Matwork Repertoire and Programming: The Pilates International Categorisation™ (PIC) System.
- Advanced Small Apparatus Repertoire and Programming: Fitball, Magic Circle (Pilates Circle), Weights and Poles, and Theraband and using the Pilates International Categorisation™ (PIC) System.
- Advanced Studio Repertoire and Programming : Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Barrels, Reformer, Ped-a-Pul.
- Programming for elite level conditioning objectives.
Special Conditions.
Gain skills in Pilates specific, high-level applications for a selection of low to moderate risk clients and special conditions:
- Rehabilitation protocols and clinical Studio exercise prescription and programming for IC, Private, Duet and Semi-Private: The Pilates International Categorisation™ (PIC) System (Studio).
- Low to moderate level musculoskeletal injuries and conditions involving the joints and soft tissue.
- Exercise prescription for medical conditions such as: Hypertension, Diabetes, Asthma, Osteoporosis, Arthritis, Specific Disability and Obesity.
- Exercise prescription for neural conditions such as: Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Stroke, Alzheimer’s Disease and pain.
- Exercise prescription for mental health conditions such as: Depression, Anxiety and Stress.
- Rehabilitative techniques for injuries such as: Fractures, Sprains, Whiplash and Falls.
- Critical analysis of research relevant to musculoskeletal injury and rehabilitation needs.
Communications.
- Become an advanced, well-rounded communicator.
- Learn how to balance cueing styles with advanced repertoire.
- Learn how to cue for advanced anatomy, physiology and biomechanics.
- Learn about professional conduct in a management and supervisory role.
- Learn about administration of client documentation.
- Learn about cross referral with Allied Health Practitioners.
Business Administration.
This qualification explores health and safety considerations in an administrative capacity, including but not limited to:
- Self-care/personal health and wellbeing.
- Mentoring roles and staff support.
- Managing and administering safety practices in practice.
